1 October            8.30am                 Halswell Quarry – Kennedys Bush – Sign of the Bellbird – Sign of the Takahe
2nd P/U: Princess Margaret Hospital Bus(bush) stop.
Moderate walk on the Port Hills up to the Crater Rim and around.
Standard Route:  As per Alternates but continue to the Sign of the Takahe via the Harry Ell Track.
Alternate Route:  Distance 16km.  Steep track up the side of the quarry, then a long steady climb up (380m vertical) Kennedys Bush Track to the Summit Road.  Turn right and follow track through Kennedys Bush to the Sign of the Bellbird.  Cross the Summit Road, Take Ellas Track (Crater Rim Walkway) to the Sign of the Kiwi.

8 October            8.30am                 Mt Grey – Ashley Forest
2nd P/U Woodend
Moderate, steady climb to the top of the mountain, return to Lake Janet Picnic Area. Standard Route:  From junction/corner of Mt Grey and Okuku roads 1km downhill to Grey Track start, up this to the Mt Grey trig and then return via Lake Janet Track to the picnic area.  690m climb.
Alternate Route:  From Lake Janet to Mt Grey returning of the same track.  480m climb.
Statistics: 16.2km/14km, elevation gain 816m/417m, Time 4hr

15 October         8.30am                 Morgans Valley to Summer/Lyttelton
2nd P/U  Trampers who wish to can leave their cars at the start of the tramp, the small
Reserve opposite No 12 Morgans Valley.  All trampers will be returned by coach to this point.
Standard Route:  Starting from the small reserve, take the track up from Morgans Valley until the T junction below houses. Turn right and continue following track past transmitters and arrive in John Britten reserve. Follow track keeping uphill right. Then before meeting the Summit Rd, turn right at the “rock” crossing track intersection. Now head towards the saddle before the gondola. A short distance on Summit Road, then at saddle follow Major Hornbrook track down to Lyttelton. At the bottom of Major Hornbrook track turn left into Somes St. Continue into Days Rd, right into Brenchley Rd, left into College Rd, right into Reserve Tce. Go through small cyclone gate opposite No 91B Reserve Tce. Alternates divert from here as below. Up the Urumau reserve ridge track. Continue towards the gun emplacements until crossing a stile to your right, and track to Evans Pass which is clearly marked. From Evans Pass take Captain Thomas Track, from near the Summit Road / Evans Pass intersection. Follow it to Sumnervale Reserve and Pick Up.
Alternate Route:  As for the Standard route until the cyclone gate. From the cyclone gate, up the track turning left where it meets the wider track and at the turn off turn right into Looper track. When it starts to go down, follow the banked bike track back down to Reserve Tce. From Reserve Tce, turn right into Stevensons Steep, right into St Davids St, left into Exeter St, then left into Oxford St. Coach pickup is Te Ana Marina.

22 October         8.00am                 Mt Oxford – Ryde Falls
2nd P/U Manderville, on Tram Road just past the shopping centre and intersection.
Standard Route:  Mt Oxford is a relentless, steep 1000m climb.
Alternate Route:  Ryde Falls is an undulating walk through Beech Forest to the bottom of a tiered waterfall tumbling off Mt Oxford.
Statistics:  15km/13km, elevation gain 960m/218m, 6hr 25min/5hr

29 October         8.30am                 Dracophyllum Flat
2nd P/U Yaldhurst Hotel (Note: Park in School Rd behind Oderings cross Yaldhurst Rd for pickup at the pub.)
Through bush and alpine pasture to Texas Flat for lunch. Mostly easy gradients for the alternates. Standards undulating alpine pastures and river crossing to Highway 73.
Standard Route:  Follow cycle trail almost to Texas Flat then across country via a crossing of Broken River to Hwy 73.
Alternate Route:  Follow cycle trail to Texas Flat then access road to the Broken River
Bridge on Highway 73.

5 November      8.30am                 Peak Hill Lake Coleridge
2nd P/U  Yaldhurst Hotel (Note: Park in School Rd behind Oderings cross Yaldhurst Rd for pickup at the pub.)
Moderate to difficult open hill walk on Doc land beside Lake Coleridge. Magnificent views.
Standard Route:  Follow track from bottom Peak Hill to the top 700m climb. Continue along and down ridge to DOC sign corner. Don’t go through newish gate. Keep on uphill side of fence, sharp left turn to follow fence line ALL the way back to the stile and back out to farm and start. Standard Old route – Follow track from bottom Peak Hill to the top 700m climb. Return via same way.
Alternate Route:  Follow track from bottom Peak Hill to first knob for lunch and return. Option 2 – Cross the stile and turn left. Follow the fence line round to the saddle for lunch and return the same way.
Statistics:  9.5km/7-10km, elevation 715m/300m, Time 5hr/4hr

12 November    8.30am                 Awa Awa / McLennans Bush
2nd P/U  Yaldhurst Hotel (Note: Park in School Rd behind Oderings cross Yaldhurst Rd for pickup at the pub.)
Rhododendron reserve.  Steady climb through bush.
Standard Route:  Scott’s Saddle Track to ridge overlooking Hood Highway – Mt Hutt ski field access road. Return via Scott’s Saddle Track, the Ridge and Alder Tracks.
Alternate Route:  Scott’s Saddle Track to the first sub alpine clearing for lunch. Return down Scott’s Saddle Track and follow the Ridge Track left into Alder Track to the bus.

19 November    8.00am                 Purple Peak Akaroa
2nd P/U  Halswell Library    
Moderate climbs and descents on the hills behind Akaroa.
Standard Route:   Cross the Rec Ground and follow Woodhills Rd/track to the Heritage Park. From here continue up to Purple Peak. Return down the Purple Peak track. Approx 2/3 of the way down cross the fence on the right(stile) onto the Woodhills South track which traverses across to Rue Grehan. Turn left here to return to the Rec Ground.
Alternate Route:  As above but starting at the Heritage Park halfway up the hill.

26 November    8.30am                 Kowai River
2nd P/U  Yaldhurst Hotel (Note: Park in School Rd behind Oderings cross Yaldhurst Rd for pickup at the pub.)
Standard Route:  Follow the old 4WD track, river and river flats to hut and return.
Alternate Route:  Old 4WD track along the true right of the Kowai River as far as practicable and return.
Statistics:  Distance 10km approx.

3 December       8.30am                 Hill Top to Cooptown (Montgomery Park and Whatarangi Reserve)
2nd P/U  Halswell Library
Moderate walk climbing through native forest undulating along the ridge and then down to Cooptown.
Standard Route:  From the Hilltop Hotel walk to the entrance of Montgomery Reserve on Pigeon Bay Road. Climb through the reserve and join Pettigrews Road Track. Go through the Whatarangi Reserve to the vicinity of Mt Sinclair. Join up with the Alternative Group and continue on P’s Road Track. Turn left through a gate and a fence line to Rocky Peak Farm and continue down to the farm access road to Harmans Track and the Pick Up.
Alternate Route:  Start at the DOC “Pettigrews Road” stile downhill from the intersection of Pigeon Bay Road and Pettigrews Road. Follow Pettigrews Road Track in the direction of the Port Levy Saddle, continue through the Whatarangi Reserve and on to the ridge lunch spot after joining up with the Standard Group. Continue on P’s Road Track. Turn left through a gate and a fence line to Rocky Peak Farm and continue down to the farm access road to Harmans Track and the Pick Up.

10 December     8.30am                 Christmas Lunch / Mt Cass to Amberley Hotel
2nd P/U:  Woodend
Standard / Alternate Route:  Follow the track to Mt Cass and return via the loop track to the Carpark.
Lunch at the Amberley Hotel.
Statistics:  Elevation 385m, Time 3hr approx.

17 December     9.30am                 Optional Self-Drive Walk.
Old Lebons Bay Rd. Meeting at the Akaroa Recreation Ground carpark at 9.30am. We intend to then drive a few carloads of people up to the top of the Old Lebons Bay Track, walk down this through Takamatua, the Sculpture Park, Childrens Bay back to the Recreation ground. Then pick up the cars from the Summit Rd.

02 July                  Mid-Winter Lunch – The Elms Hotel – book through Hello Club

 

09 July                  8.30am                 Charteris Bay – Purau – Diamond Harbour          
2nd P/U: Halswell Library
Inland rural and urban roads out bound to Purau.  Some short, steepish climbing and descending grades on the roads.  Return to diamond Harbour Domain along undulating coastal margin walking track.
Standard Route: Walk around road and track to Purau for lunch, follow the coast track to Diamond Harbour and follow track to Charteris Bay.
Alternative Route: Walk around road and track to Purau for lunch, follow the coast track to Diamond Harbour.

16 July                 8.30am                 Bowenvale – Victoria Park – Bowenvale
2nd P/U: End of Bowenvale Ave.
A steady climb to the Summit Road, then siding tracks to Victoria Park and to descent to Bowenvale.

23 July                  8:00am                 Bealey Spur NOTE EARLY START.
2nd P/U Yaldhurst Hotel
This track climbs gently up to the Spur, through mountain-beech forest.  In Summer look -out for red-flowering mistletoe / pirirangi near the start of the track.  At one point the track comes close to a cliff with a dramatic view down to Bruce Stream.  Higher up, the track passes through tussock grasslands and subalpine scrub and passes near several tarns.  There are expansive views of the Waimakariri River Valley and surrounding mountains.
Standard Route: The track starts from the car park off SH73, walk up Cloudesley Road to the track start at the top. Continue from the Bealey Spur Hut to the top of the Spur and return.
Alternative Route:  The track starts from the car park off SH73, walk up Cloudesley Road to the track start at the top. Continue from the Bealey Spur Hut to the top of the Spur and return.

30 July                  8.30 am                Bridle Path – Lyttelton – Pony Point
2nd P/U: Bridle Path track, Heathcote
Steady climb over Bridle Path then undulating to Pony Point and return via Stan Helms Track.
Standard Route: Bridle Path turn right onto Harmans Rd to Voelas Rd to Brittan Tce then follow tracks to Cass Bay and on to Pony Point.  Walk through park then follow track to Cass Bay and back to Brittan Tce, Voelas Rd, Harmons Rd and left onto Stan Helms Track to Summit Rd and down Bridle Path to Heathcote.
Alternative Route: As above but on return take low track at Corsair Bay and bus pickup at Lyttelton.

6 August              8.30am                 McLeans Island – Waimakariri River Regional Park
2nd P/U: N/A
An easy walk for any Associate members who may wish to join us for a catch up.
Easy mostly flat walking on the top of stop banks, gravel forestry roads and on a formed walking track through scrappy radiata pine forest.
Standard Route: Start at the locked stop bank gate on the north side of Weedons Ross Road near the Canterbury Offroad Club grounds.  Continue east along the major stop bank until a morning tea stop – opposite a “works yard” in the forest.  After M.T. go left off the stop bank on to a forestry road going back hard NW towards the Waimak River. At the road/stop bank intersection continue NE on a minor stop bank and then the road left 150 m to the riverbank. Turn right on to a river road to a locked gate which is at the NW corner of the Waimakariri River Regional Park: climb over the gate, turn right on to Miners Road. Turn left on to Norton Avenue (locked gate), turn right for 50 m, over a fence and join the walking track which parallels Farm Road.  Turn right on to Ashfield Road, right again on to the top bank past the back boundary of the McLeans Is-land Golf Club and return via the walking track to the Regional Park car park

13 August            8.30am                 Sumner – Godley Head – Evans Pass
2nd P/U: Meet at Clocktower south end of Sumner Esplanade
Easy to moderate walk from Sumner around the north side of the harbour.
Standard Route: From Scarborough clock tower follow the road to Flowers Track.  Up Flowers Track to Nicholson Park.  Continue on the road to the coastal track access way, next to 127 Taylors Mistake Road, and onto Taylors Mistake and Godley Head car park for lunch. After lunch, over stile, onto Breeze Bay walking track, past World War 11 buildings, to bus pickup at Evans Pass.
Alternative Route: Start second at Evans Pass and do in reverse to the Standards. Can take a shortcut down the Anaconda Track from Breeze Col or go the whole way to Godly Head and around.

20 August            8.30am                 Little River – Birdlings Flat
2nd P/U: Halswell Library
The Alternates route is mostly downhill and would be suitable for Associate members who wish to join us.
Road walk. Steady climb to the intersection of Kinloch Road and Bossu Road, turn right on to Bossu Road and follow to Birdlings Flat.
Statistics: distance 17.7km, elevation gain 600m, time 4hrs 20mins

 

27 August            8.30am                 Kate Valley – Tiromoana Bush Walkway
2nd P/U: Woodend
Rolling open reverted farming country, some steep climbs, some gravel road walking.
Standard Route: Car park to Ella Ponds (am tea), Coastal Viewpoint, Ella Bush, a ridge climb to Ella’sPeak, a grass track descent to a stream gully and lunch on the Pegasus Bay beach. Returning to the carpark via the western Wetlands track. A short steep road climb(toilet) to grass track through a pine plantation; an undulating road walk to the D/O.
Alternative Route: Car park to Ella Ponds (am tea), Coastal Viewpoint, Ella Bush, a grass track descent to a stream gully and lunch on the Pegasus Bay beach. Returning to the carpark via the western Wetlands track. A short steep road climb(toilet) to grass track through a pine plantation; an undulating road walk to the D/O.
Statistics: distance 12.8km/11km, elevation gain 424m VA, time 4hrs 25mins.

 

3 September     8.30am                 Princess Margaret Hospital to Governors Bay
2nd P/U: Princess Margaret Hospital
Moderate climb up the Christchurch Adventure Park (CAP) hiking trail to the Summit Rd. Then down to the Otoromiro Hotel via Governors Bay Downhill and lower Faulkners tracks.
Standard Route: Start PMH make your way past the Old Stone House and on to the CAP Hiking Trail. Up to the Summit Rd. Follow the Crater Rim Walkway down to the Sign of the Kiwi, around Coronation Hill to the Layby on the Summit Rd approx 300m above the Kiwi where the Governors Bay Downhill track drops down towards Governors Bay. Follow this down and around to Faulkners Track. Walk down this to the Otoromiro Hotel.
Alternative Route:  As above but starting at the Old Stone House or CAP entrance. No Need to walk down to Kiwi or around Coronation Hill. Drop down Governors Bay Downhill track from the Layby.
Statistics: distance 14km, elevation gain 594m, 5 time 5 hrs mins

 

10 September   8.30am                 McCormacks Bay – Evans Pass – Mulgans Track – Moncks Bay
2nd P/U McCormacks Bay Reserve, McCormacks Bay Road
Steady climb to top and gentle descent
Standard Route: Start at McCormacks Bay   Reserve (Glenstrae Rd right at first hairpin or round to Basil Plc and straight off the end up through Drayton Reserve), steady climb to top through John Brittan Reserve. Continue up reserve, follow cycle trail to right to the saddle below the Gondola.  Turn left and follow Crater rim walk to top of Mt Pleasant aerials.  Track down to gun emplacement, then follow track to Evans Pass.  At Evans Pass follow cycle trail to four-wheel drive track. At Summit Road turn right to lead onto top of Eastenders Track turn immediately right and follow the grassy track down to Clifton Tce. Down Clifton Terrace and go through Brownlee Reserve, cross Panorama Rd and down No 32 drive, continue down to next road, turn right then left at No34 and follow track to Kinsey Tce.  At Kinsey Tce turn left and walk to Mulgans Track at the end of the road. Down Mulgans Track to bus pickup at Moncks Bay
Alternative Route: Start at John Brittan Reserve, climb to gun emplacement through Greenwood Reserve, descend to Evans Pass, walk up road to top Eastenders track for lunch. Turn immediately right and follow the grassy track down to Clifton Terrace, climb stile into Panorama Road, turn left at 32 Panorama Road and follow steps down to road, turn right then left at no 34 Tuawera St and follow track to Kinseys Tce, turn left at end of Kinsey Tce to Mulgans track down to bus pickup at Moncks Bay.

17 September   8.30am                 Craigieburn Forest Park Ski Lodge
2nd P/U: Yaldhurst Hotel
A short section of gravel road followed by a climb through beech forest to the ski field base, and a return down the access road to SH 73.
Standard Route: A short section of gravel road to the Luge Track then up to Lyndon Saddle to join the gently climbing Craigieburn Valley Track to the skifield base and back down the access road to the junction with Hwy 73.
Alternative Route: Lead off on the Craigieburn Skifield Road, go right on to the Craigieburn Valley Track, round the head of the valley, through the ski field Base HQ area and back down the Craigieburn Ski field Road to the Hwy 73 junction
Statistics: distance 15.6/14km, elevation gain 755/612m VA, time 4.15/4hrs.

 

24 September   8.00am                 Mt Barrosa, Lake Clearwater
2nd P/U: Yaldhurst Hotel
The Alternates route is flat and suitable for Associate members who wish to join us.
Standards: Difficult, steady climb to the top of the mountain, then return via same route.
Alternates .Easy, flat 10km loop track around Lake Clearwater.
Option: Alts, Stour river walk.
Standard Route: Mt Barossa track from DOC carpark. Progressively steeper walk until ¾ mark where the going gets marginally easier. Great views from rocky top. Marked track.
Alternative Route:  Lake Clearwater Loop Track starts at the DOC carpark down by the lake, to the right, at the lower end of Mt Possession St. Anticlockwise around lake returning to carpark. Approx 10km, flat walking.
Option: Stour River track from DOC carpark where there is a toilet. 6.7km to Stour river crossing turnaround point. Return via same track. 13.4km total distance. Relatively flat, some stream crossings, marked track.

02 April                8.00am                 Hinewai Reserve              NB: EARLY START
P/U: Halswell Library
Walking through a bush clad valley with a steady downhill before lunch, then uphill back to the bus.
Standard route: A walk from the main entrance downhill through bush to the bay for lunch (providing approval has been granted). Return uphill on a different track to the start point. Steady climbs and descents in an environment that demonstrates management of gorse with native bush regeneration.
Alternative route: As above
Statistics: distance 12.8km, elevation gain 540m, time 4 -5hrs

09 April                8.30am                 Weka Pass Farm

Easy undulating walk on farm tracks, with great views
Standard Route: An initial short climb followed by undulating farm tracks through limestone country and walking on the old Weka Pass Road.

A new tramp
Standard Route: Easy to moderate farm track to limestone outcrop area. Make our way through this over Flock Hill and return via a second farm track.

23 April                8.30 am                Bellbird Loop
P/U: Princess Margaret Hospital
A walk with great views of Lyttelton Harbour on the Port Hill tracks
Standards: A walk-through Kennedys Reserve and then tracks above Governors Bay.
Alternates: Similar but shortened version of the Standards Walk.
Statistics: distance 9km, elevation gain 480m, time 4hrs

30 April                8.30am                 Camp Saddle
P/U: Yaldhurst Hotel
Craigieburn Forest Park Walk with a 300m scree run near the end for the Standards
Standard Route: Proceeds up the access road from the drop off to the Saddle, goes along the ridge to the scree slope, down the scree slope and return to the bus.
Alternative Route: Proceed up access road to turnoff to Lyndon Saddle (Luge Track), at the saddle climb Helicopter Hill for lunch.  Return to saddle turn right and continue down to Craigieburn Forest track.  Follow road for a few hundred metres then turn right into Siddle 73 track back to the bus

Both groups walk an easy to moderate farm walk over undulating country.
Standard & Alternates Route: An undulating farm walk with significant notice to be taken by the Leaders to pick-up the markers noted on the Guides along the way.

21 May                 8.30am                 The Doctors – Pyramid Valley

An undulating North Canterbury Farm Walk
Standard route: Initial long climb on farm road, then descent, a long climb up to ridge. Lunch, followed by undulating terrain then descent to airstrip and back to bus

Alternative route: The route forged follows a four-wheel drive track up the valley before the fault line, to Boundary Hill. Those who wish to, can climb to the summit for lunch. All return via the fault line.

Moderate farm walk with steady inclines to a saddle on a well-marked DOC track

Standard Route: Steady climb up the Spur passing Bealey Spur Hut, where higher up the track passes through tussock grasslands and subalpine scrub and passes near several tarns. Climb to the top of the Spur for more extensive views before descending.

Alternative Route: Steady climb up the Spur with superb views. Lunch at Bealey Spur Hut and then descend to the pick-up.

Standard route: Undulating tramp over farm land and on farm tracks; steady climb to lunch stop and later on to top of Mt Vulcan. Great coastal and inland views.

Alternative route: As above, but sidling around Mt Vulcan with no major climbs.

An open, grassy ridge climb with some rock-hopping to start and then ranging from easy to steeper climbing and descent sections.

Standard route:    Crater Rim walkway from the Sign of the Bellbird to Evans Pass.

Alternative route: Crater Rim walkway from the Sign of the Kiwi to Evans Pass.

Standard Route: Steady climb through bush up Scott’s Saddle Track to the ridgeline and lunch overlooking the Mt Hutt access road. Return via Scott’s Saddle, Ridge and Alder Tracks.

Alternative Route:  Steady climb through bush up Scott’s Saddle Track to the first sub-alpine clearing for lunch overlooking the Canterbury Plains. Return via Scott’s Saddle, Ridge and Alder tracks.

Stats: distance 11km, ascent 740m, time 4hrs 45mins.

22 November    8.30am                 Sugarloaf 13 Mile Hut

Canerbury foothills stream valley clothed in beech forest.

Standard Route: The track follows 13 Mile Bush Stream, crossing several times and winding up through the bush in a series of steep pinches and slightly more level stream terraces.  Returning on the beech forest track with several stream crossings.

Alternative Route: As for Standards for as long as terrain and stamina allow.

Stats: distance 14.4km, ascent 577m, time not recorded.

Standard route: Steady climb to the top of the mountain, then return via same route.

Alternative route: 10km loop track around Lake Clearwater. Option, 2hr up Stour River, return via same route.

Stats: distance 7.8km, ascent 824m, time 4hrs 30mins

 6 December       8.30am                  Mt Grey – Ashley Forest

P/U: Woodend

Standard route: Walk down the road to the river before a steady climb to the Mt Grey trig via Mt Grey track, returning down the same track to Lake Janet.

Alternative route: Steady climb from Lake Janet, returning via the same track.

Stats: distance 16.2/9km, ascent 776/507m, time 4hrs

Our Christmas lunch tramp. Lunch details will be advised later. If wet the bus will leave Bishopdale at 10:30am.

Standard route: Walk to Governors Bay from the Sign of the Bellbird via the Carter Rim and Faulkners track.

Alternate route: An easy flat walk on a well-marked track starting from the Governors Bay jetty. The track follows the waterfront and takes around 30 mins before returning the same way.

20 December     Self drive to Okuti Valley carpark at 10:00am.

12 July                 8.30am                 Halswell Quarry – Kennedys Bush – Signs of the Bellbird and Takahe       

P/U: PM Hospital

A long steady climb via the quarry and Kennedy’s Bush Track to the Summit Road. Follow the track through Kennedys Bush to the Sign of the Bellbird. Cross the Summit Road and take Ellas track to the Sign of the Kiwi.

Standard route:  As above but from the Kiwi descend to The Sign of the Takahe via the Harry Ell Track.

Stats: distance 14.5km, ascent 462m, time 4hrs 30mins

 

19 July                  8.30am                 Leith Hill Slump – Kura Tawhiti                                                 

P/U: Yaldhurst

Both Groups: A steady climb through bush initially following logging trails, then down across the river before an uphill stretch past the sinkhole. After lunch continue on Castle Hill Station track to Kura Tawhiti.

Alternative Route: This group may elect to omit the logging trail section of the tramp.

Stats: distance 9.5/ 8.8km, vertical ascent 338m, time 4hrs

 

26 July                  8:30am                  Flagpole             

P/U: Yaldhurst

Standard route: Undulating farm track above the Selwyn River, then a climb through pine trees and open country to the saddle for lunch. Continue up to Flagpole then down the farm road to the bus. The leader may choose the anticlockwise route.

Alternative route: Undulating farm track above the Selwyn River to lunch by the river. Return by the same route.

P/U: Ohoka Rd Silverstream between Island Rd & Silverstream Blvd

A steepish steady climb all the way to lunch, then downhill to the bus.

Standard route: Up Ridge Track to Hunter Hill then along the ridge to the summit of Mt Thomas, returning via the Wooded Gully Track

Alternative route: As above with the option to go down the Wooded Gully Track or continue to Mt Thomas and return down the Summit Track (very steep).

Stats: distance 15km, vertical ascent 790m, time 5hrs 45mins

P/U:  Woodend

Standard route: Initial steady climb on farm road, then a descent before a further climb to the ridge to lunch stop. Return on undulating terrain then descent to airstrip and back to bus.

Alternative Route: Initial steady climb on farm road, then undulating with further climb to airstrip. Downhill from the airstrip to bus.

                                Stats: distance 12.2km, vertical ascent 660m, time 4hrs 30mins.

Some short steep climbs on inland rural and urban roads to Purau. with the return to Diamond Harbour along the undulating coastal margin walking track. Standards continue on the coastal path to Charteris Bay pick-up.

30 August    8.30am                 Bridle Path – Pony Point – Stan Helms    

 P/U: Bridle Path track, Heathcote

Steady climb over Bridle Path then undulating to Pony Point. Back to Lyttelton where the Standards continue on up Stan Helms to the Bridle Path and back to Heathcote.

A farm walk with short climbs and rolling hills with great views from the Alps to the Peninsula. Return on farm tracks and Whitecliffs Rd to Farr St.

Standard Route: Follow track from the bottom of Peak Hill to the summit, a climb of 700 metres. The leader may choose to return by the same or the alternative route.

Alternative Route: A shorter climb from the bottom to the first knob for lunch and return.

P/U: McCormacks Reserve, McCormacks Bay Rd

Standard Route: Port Hills walk from McCormacks Bay to John Britten Reserve, and Eastenders Track to Evans Pass. Then various tracks and roads to Clifton Hill to Moncks Bay. Alternative Route: As above but starting at John Britten Reserve.

27 September   8.30am                 Craigieburn Forest Park – Ski Lodge – Hwy 73

Standard route:  Steady ascent to Lyndon Saddle to join Craigieburn Valley Track. Continue on track to ski field base, and return via ski field road to SH 73.

Alternative route: Short walk along Craigieburn Ski Field Road to join undulating

Craigieburn Valley Track. Continue along track to ski field base, returning via ski field road.
